Tips Before Purchase – What You Should Know
Honey Whale Care Promise Terms & Conditions
1Choose A Brand You Can Trust – Not Just Another Reseller
Most scooter shops sell various brands – they are just resellers. We are different, we specialise in electric scooters — its all we do.
Honey Whale is our own brand, and we focus 100% on building, improving, and supporting our own scooters. We're not just local — we're global. Our scooters are sold in Mexico, the USA, Brazil, Cuba, and across Europe.
When you choose Honey Whale, you're choosing a well-established international brand with local support. That means: No struggling to find parts, No excuses when things go wrong.
While many retailers offer scooters as part of a wider range, we focus exclusively on e-scooters, meaning: Expert advice and diagnosis and Direct local support without layers of delay.
We stock parts, understand the specs, and offer full after-sales support, both in New Zealand and beyond.
2How Far Can It Really Go? Understanding Real-World Range
Most e-scooter brands, advertised range figures are based on ideal lab.
We don't do that.
At Honey Whale, our range numbers are based on real-world testing, not lab simulations. Battery capacity (measured in watt-hours, Wh) is the most reliable indicator of range —the higher the battery capcity (Wh), the longer the scooter can travel.
3☔ IPX4 or IPX5 Water Resistance ? Ride With Confidence — Even in the Rain
Even IPX5 water resistance scooter, riding in heavy rain can still cause damage. Most scooter brands won't cover water damage. Even a bit of rain can void their warranty. We do opposite, if your scooter fails due to riding in rain — even heavy rain — we'll repair it free of charge. We believe in common-sense support — because we ride too.
Note: As long as the scooter hasn't been fully submerged (like waterlogged or left underwater) or deliberately riding on muddy terrain, Free repair doesn't including shipping cost. The free water-damage repair can be used only once.
4Free Return & Repair Shipping During Warranty
Most e-scooter brands ask you to pay half the shipping, we want you to shop with confidence. If your scooter has an issue due to a manufacturing or product quality problem, we'll cover both ways shipping cost, just real support.
Note: This Free Return & Repair Shipping service applies to customers located outside of Auckland and Christchurch and the original order was placed with the shipping delivery option. Excluding Human-caused fault, only apply for first year from purchase date.
5Local support you can count on
If something goes wrong, it can disrupt your daily commute or weekend plans. Having a trusted local team means faster diagnostics, quicker repairs, and real peace of mind. You won't be left waiting for overseas parts or dealing with offshore customer service. We're here when you need us.
We're not just online — we're right here in NZ offer 3 Years Warranty* on e-scooter. Our Auckland-based & Christchurch-based service centre, remote video support outside our region and in-store technicians are ready to support you with maintenance, spare parts, and professional advice.
6Choose A Scooter Built With Certified Components
At Honey Whale, we don't cut corners. All of our key components — from the motor to the controller, battery, suspension, and brakes — come from well-known, internationally recognized suppliers, not no-name factories.
Our parts meet strict global standards and carry certifications such as:
- ISO 9001 – Quality Management System
- CE Certification – Compliance with EU safety, health, and environmental requirements
- RoHS – Restriction of Hazardous Substances
- FCC – US electronic safety compliance
- UN38.3 – Lithium battery safety certification for transport
- IPX Water Resistance Ratings – Tested and verified ingress protection
This means you're not just buying a scooter — you're buying one made with automotive-grade components, built to last, and tested for durability, safety, and performance.
7Don't Be Misled by Fake Hill Climb Claims
You might see other brands advertising their scooters can "climb 30° hills" or "handle 45° inclines" — but what does that really mean?
Most people don't realize that:
- 10 degrees ≠ 10% slope
- A 10° incline = nearly 18% gradient, which is extremely steep — like a steep driveway or ramp
- Some brands use percent (%), some use degrees (°) — often without explanation
This kind of claim is often misleading marketing.
The truth is, hill-climbing ability depends on many factors, including:
- Motor power and torque
- Battery output
- Controller performance
- Total load (rider weight + scooter)
- Road conditions (surface type, speed, length of the hill, etc.)
At Honey Whale, we don't throw out random hill-climb numbers just to look good on paper. Instead, we offer real advice, tailored to your needs. Just tell us your weight, the type of roads you plan to ride, and your usage — our expert team will recommend the right model for you.
8Tire Matters – Comfort and Safety First
We've tested solid tires, and while they don't puncture, they're uncomfortable and can be dangerous when hitting curbs or uneven roads. After real customer feedback, we switched back to air-filled tires for better shock absorption, grip, and riding comfort.
Also, you plan to ride on rocky roads or off-road terrain, its important to choose off-road tires. Using normal street tires on rough surfaces can increasee the risk of punctures or tire damage.
